I have a studio space now, so images of work in progress will be documented, my research has gone into over drive, from eggs to hair to ash to rice to clay to dust to paper to folds to particles… I am sucking up information and struggling to process it and making weird connections all over the place – it’s so exciting!

so thank you for visiting my little humble site. I will be uploading images of my last exhibition and perhaps some of my writing and some of my new work that I am currently making the materials.

I have a good feeling about the year ahead

This was such a lovely surprise, a little piece of writing from a fellow artist that liked my camera obscura.

There is something about Autumn that renews me. That back to school feeling, sharpening my pencils and polishing my shoes, gives me an excitement and energy which hasn’t been here for a long time. A lot has been happening since the last time I visited here, about 2 years ago!

Four internships, an exhibition, curating, writing reviews, got a job, left that job, got another job… general life stuff.

Striking that artist in the real world balance is hard work and I applaud anyone who does this! I think I’m starting to get somewhere now. Working full-time was something that I thought would disrupt and make me feel like I couldn’t practice, but I find that I am more eager because what I do is not the slightest bit creative. and surprisingly I find I can actually work after I come home, and the regular hours mean I can actually plan things.

so, time to get that studio space sorted, time to send out proposals, time to make same work, yea!

also planning to do a Phd and using this blog for personally mapping during my Masters was really useful so seemed like a good idea to rejuvenate the process once more.

I wish to apologise for the lack of information and uploading that has occured in the past few months. I understand that without regular maintaince blogs like these wither and die, even though that is part of my work, it ends that way not during! This has been to a number of factors: my dissertation would took over my mind, body and soul for a few months wich I will upload perhaps as a pdf link here, a huge change in my personal relationships which rendered me unstable. I fear the latter would totally disrupt my practice and research and it very almost did, with the lack of assessment materials at the end of semester 2, the mis-management of my communication and commissioned work for the artist Pamela So’s diaspora project for EIF (more on that to follow) and my failure to attend the V&A on the Art Matters project for Action for Childremore on that to follow too).

I am in a process of mourning, and my art imitates life, and life is imitating art. It has been catharticas I hav constructed a large camera obscura, where I watch life outisde revereted back onto me. I absorb the outside upon me, and soon, I hope to conserve these images once more through my pinhole cameras et al.

My research has developed in many ways and for that I am sad it has not been better documented online here, so please bear with me as new projects, images, external links and bites of information start flooding this way…
